节日顾客包括凯特布兰切特，萨姆尼尔，吉莲阿姆斯特朗，简坎皮恩，妮可基德曼，巴兹鲁曼，乔治米勒博士，菲利普诺伊斯和雨果威文，除许多的职业生涯已经启动在圣丹斯电影节放映。自1974年以来， 一直在扩大我们接触到的观众区域中心与旅游电影节。从2008年，第55届电影节，已经成为澳大利亚唯一的电影节有一个fiapf认可的正式比赛，有12部来自世界各地的选定竞争现金奖6万美元。澳大利亚小童星夏嘉乐2011年获悉尼国际电影节最佳儿童演员奖，2013年获悉尼国际电影节最具潜质演员奖

无需飞往戛纳、鹿特丹、柏林和多伦多。每年冬天有三个星期，墨尔本国际电影节放映来自世界所有著名电影节的电影。观看著名的影片，发现不为人知的电影珍品，或者观看著名的短片比赛的参赛作品。六月份，为期一周的墨尔本国际动画节中，有来自30多个国家的400多部动画影片。参战影片从文化经典到最新制作，展示着创意和技术天才。千万不要错过五月份举办的为期一个星期的圣科达电影节。该电影节吸引世界各地的数百部电影短片来到墨尔本，此外还将上映澳大利亚百佳短片竞赛的参赛作品。
特色
《功夫熊猫》在悉尼州立剧院（state theatre）举行首映式，好来坞当红谐星杰克
的墨尔本杯赛马活动。这部影片在墨尔本和悉尼上映达3个月之久，是外国人在澳大利亚拍摄的最早的一部影片。 20世纪初，英国人类学家c.斯潘塞来澳拍摄了关于土著居民的风俗习尚的纪录片，开创了以研究土著居民文化生活为目的的人类学纪录片之先河，救世军也在这个时候开始拍摄宣传宗教的短故事片，如《早期的基督教殉难者》（1899年）。第一部澳大利亚人摄制的影片《凯利帮的故事》是1906年上映的，它标志着澳大利亚电影的诞生。从70年代开始，澳大利亚电影进入了复兴时期。

澳大利亚每年约举办10余个电影节，其中较有影响的是：悉尼国际电影节和墨尔本国际电影节。
活动项目
电影节的主要目的是了解世界各国的电影情况，促进澳大利亚电影工作者与外国电影工作者的密切合作，为发展本国的电影事业作出贡献。根据电影节的章程规定：宗旨是放映世界各国优秀的、新的及有创意的影片，使本国观众大饱眼福。只有澳大利亚优秀影片方可获奖。主要活动项目有：

澳大利亚年产影片约20部，有影院900余座（包括汽车电影场），年观众3500万人次，票房收入1亿美元。影片的内容取材于历史，不直接反映现实，能引起观众对社会问题的联想和思考。有些影片的内容层次较多、涉及面较广，耐人寻味。这些影片一般来讲构图讲究，光和色彩的运用恰到好处；镜头流畅，善于利用大自然的景色作背景。随着国产片的发展，在澳大利亚银幕上也出现了一批有影响的澳大利亚电影明星：梅尔·吉布森、约翰·哈格里夫斯、杰克·汤浦森、布赖恩、布朗、海伦·莫斯等。

做法
本届（第55届）悉尼电影节延续上届做法，专门设立华语电影展播。电影节为突出自身特点，设立了六万澳元的电影奖金以及12晚的红毯秀。获奖影片将由澳洲导演gillian armstrong为首的国际认可的评委会来决定．同时，悉尼电影节也将为后续的墨尔本国际电影节和布里斯本国际电影节奏响狂欢序曲。新南威尔士州政府希望将悉尼电影节办成像嘎纳、威尼斯、柏林电影节一样声望的国际性电影盛会。
